International Women’s Day: FG to give out N1.6bn loans to women

The Buhari led administration has announced a package of N1.6bn for women to mark the International Women’s Day.This promise was delivered by the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Alhassan at a town hall meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The  Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Alhassan who disclosed this at a town hall meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State, noted that each woman who could be an artisan, a farmer, trader or an entrepreneur will be eligible for a soft loan of between 10,000 to 100,000 Naira with a six-month grace period before repayment is due.

She, therefore, urged women to take advantage of the credit facility to improve on their businesses as a way to alleviate poverty across the country.

Thanking the Federal Government for the programme, the Kwara State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ayinke Saka said it will complement that of the state government in empowering the womenfolk.
