The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Affairs, Mr Chinedu Obidigwe, has been summoned by the state house of assembly for allegedly usurping the functions of Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Vanguard newspapers reported that Mr Obidigwe is also accused abuse of power by imposing a native doctor as the traditional ruler and a crony of his as the president-general on Nando town even when the incumbent’s tenure is yet to expire.
The motion which was moved by Obinna Emenaka, the member representing Anambra East constituency was supported by Mr Chugbo Enwezor of Onitsha North 1 constituency. Obiano He is to appear before the lawmakers, Tuesday, to answer the allegations levelled against him.
The members decried incessant reports of high handedness by the governor’s aide which included harassment, intimidation and illegal use of long convoy with deafening siren. The lawmakers wondered why a special adviser should wield such enormous powers and said he will have to explain his job description.
They, therefore, asked him to appear before them on Tuesday, 7th march 2017 to respond to these allegations against him.
The motion was put to vote by the Speaker of the House, Mrs Rita Maduagwu and was unanimously adopted.
