More often than not our initial reaction when kids get it wrong is anger, likewise, our conversation with them rarely goes beyond studies and chores. As my kids edge closer to the transitional teenage years I have learned a few parenting tips thanks to @FadiHaddadMD, a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist I started following recently.
1. Resist getting angry, rather find out the issue and offer your help.
2. Take the conversation beyond the usual and delve into their emotional world to understand their aspirations and struggles.
3. Give them space to grow and separate from you but not too far away. Know their friends!
4. Bond with the whole family, have dinner together, go for vacations and have time for yourselves. #QualityTime
5. And finally, never hesitate to seek help from an expert.
