Love transcends Valentine’s day and much as we have to celebrate Valentine’s day we should endeavour to show love every day. However, Valentine is special, very special. And it was in that spirit that an anonymous sponsor decided to support our week 20 by paying the N20,000 cash prize and awarding a special N10,000 prize to encourage teenage writer Onyedikachi Johnson who has been impressive since his first essay. Our winners for this week are Varieties Of Love by Augusta Ndeche and The Waiter’s Story by Arueze Chisom  Augusta announced her entry with panache in week 18, showing craft essay and brevity skills with her piece titled Regrets. Her ability to show rather than tell packs a combination of descriptive and narrative adroitness even as she flows seamlessly. Varieties Of Love is a great read with some life lessons too. Congrats Augusta, please keep writing for the world. Chisom is one of our consistent writers from early days. She is also one of the few whose work The Private Sector In Nigeria was published outside the the competition, indicating her passion for writing. According to a Judge, A Waiter’s Story is “just one essay that really engaged me and brought out all the emotions”. While another described it as “relatable with great use of tenses”. This shows that she is a good ambassador the competition and has obviously improved with consistency. Congratulations on your first win Chisom, we know we know we ‘ll read more from you. The Bad Waiter by Emmanuel Enaku. Good use of punctuations. The writer could have done better with a more exciting and realistic ending. When Love Finds A Lift by Saberedowo Oluwafisayo. Very enjoyable, a few punctuation issues but generally a good story and relatable. Date Alone by Oluwaseun Osanyinro. Loved it, engaging from start to finish. Has a feel-good vibe and reads like a modern-day love story. Good use of punctuations. This is a 5-star essay that could easily have won on another day. Trouble On Valentine’s Day by Timilehin Igeleke. Loved it, relatable and beautifully written. This is another 5-star essay and the writer is definitely a winner, one to look out for. Never Keep Silent by Victor Okonjo. Fantastic piece, easy read and poignant. Few grammatical errors. Mid-February by Humble Ogbonna. Fun read, but with some spelling errors that could have been averted by proofreading. Waiting On Love’s Day by Johnson Onyedikachi.  Yet another fantastic read from this young man.
